Maddie's® Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell

Hammy's Zest for Life

Hammy Pic 2Hammy, came into a local shelter when his family had to move and could not find housing that would allow him to come along.  He was in great condition and a happy boy who loved his mid- day snacks. While in the shelter, the medical staff noticed a small tumor coming from his rear end.  It was removed and was determined to be a malignant form of cancer, despite Hammy’s zest for life and loving personality.

In just a short time Hammy had won over the entire medical team and even went home a few times with various doctors!

He was brought to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals to look for any evidence of cancer spread, and nothing was found.  He was advertised for adoption and quickly found his way into the hearts of a young family with children. Hammy is a loved dog in his new forever home where he will continue to work on his bucket list with his human sisters.

Included is a YouTube video of how super happy Hammy is! {back}
